Fall protection is based on developing a comprehensive project that combines techniques, equipment and procedures, with the main aim of preventing accidents caused by falls and, if they do occur, reducing their impact to a minimum. This approach guarantees the safety, life and physical integrity of workers operating in high places or confined spaces.

Protection against falls from a height

Falls from a height are among the main causes of serious and fatal accidents at work, due to the seriousness of their consequences.
As it is legally considered a type of work with special and high risk, it is essential to adopt an integrated set of safety techniques, equipment and procedures, with the following objectives:

1. Protecting workers' lives

Personal protective equipment (PPE), such as harnesses, drastically reduces the risk of death in the event of slipping, loss of balance or structural failure.

2. Avoid serious and permanent physical injury

Even when they are not fatal, falls from a height can result in permanent injuries and disabilities.

3. Ensuring a safe and productive working environment

When workers feel protected, they work with more confidence and motivation, which reduces errors and accidents.

4. Comply with Legal and Regulatory Requirements

In Portugal, protection against falls from a height is regulated by: Law no. 102/2009 (amended by Law no. 3/2014), which regulates the legal framework for promoting safety and health at work.
