Respiratory protection is one of the universal safety measures at work. 

Respiratory  protection masks  create a  barrier between the surrounding environment and the worker.
Their purpose is  to protect the user’s respiratory tract  against contaminated and/or oxygen-deficient atmospheres.

The choice of the ideal PPE for respiratory protection must consider the type of risks workers are exposed to, according to hazard identification and risk assessments of the various tasks or jobs.
